Project summary

Participatory Democracy Project "Our community, your community" aims at boosting
youth participation in local community, national and European life by a simulated
participation in the community democratic process. The purpose of this project is to
create an ideal community by the participants, a community that will become an example
of best practice and a simulation place for democratic participation experiments.
Project's theme is focused on simulating the concepts of participative democracy
through the direct involvement of participants in the project.

Project's specific objectives are:
- Creating an interaction space where young people will be able to learn about democratic
processes and how to become active citizens in their communities.
Encouraging young people in the local community.
- Creating a space for mutual understanding among young people and creating lasting
friendships.
- To facilitate a structured dialogue between young people and representatives of local
authorities, a dialogue that will lead to a critical analysis of political and social issues by
young people.
- Promoting trans-national mobility for young people with fewer opportunities.
- Creating local and transnational networks between youth organizations that would offer
expertise in young people's active involvement in local community life.

The project will last for eleven months and will be implemented by organizations from:
Project activities will be conducted in Lamest, Valcea.
The project's main activities are:
- Launch conference.
- Debate on mechanisms of participatory democracy.
- Building an ideal community where participatory democracy mechanisms will be
simulated.
